Thoughts for Today

Review by Nigel

“In the week before Easter when winter repulsed spring’s attempt at an arrival in time for the Bank Holiday, a parcel from India arrived at The Welkin. This contained the first consignment of a new book entitled “Thoughts for Today and Everyday” by Swami Satchidananda Ma.
We were delighted to receive this as it represented the culmination of a few years’ work. It had arisen from the germ of an original idea that came to her as she wrote her editorial piece regularly for Ambrosia and latterly too for the Spiritual Messages sent out via Email. Satchi then set about recording and compiling all her thoughts for the purpose of a daily readings publication. Once she applied herself thus, the actual writing took only a few months.
Thereafter, the task required the input of others and inevitably the pace of the project slowed during the process of transcribing, revising, sorting, proof-reading, setting, re-proof reading and adding the photographs and foreword. However, we kept things moving along and with a lot of help from Ambrosia Editor Rama Beal and our friends at Omkarananda Ashram Himalayas who liased with the Indian printers on our behalf, the result is now to hand.
Despite the fact that I must have read the manuscript at least ten times during the book’s production, dipping into the finished article I immediately found the content fresh and relevant, as will surely all genuine aspirants who obtain a copy. I would have no hesitation in commending ‘Thoughts for Today and Everyday’ to our readers, in advance of the official reviews that are to follow”

Review by Swami Rajeswarananda

Given the way yoga is currently portrayed, you could be forgiven for thinking it is nothing more than an exercise regime whereby you twist your body into various pretzel shapes.
Thoughts for Today and Everyday by Swami Satchidananda Ma is therefore a timely reminder of what yoga is really about. In these daily readings we are blessed with the clarity and wisdom of a well-known spiritual guide. Satchi’s inspirations will lift you when you feel down, encourage you to stay on the spiritual path and give you pause for thought. The practical advice inside this little gem of a book will bring peace into your life so you can achieve the aim of yoga as set down by the sage Patanjali “Setting your mind to stillness.” I recommend every truly aspiring Yogi owns a copy of this book.
